DIRECTORS

Kwame Prakah-Asante. PhD

Education: Dr. Prakah-Asante holds a PhD in Agricultural Economics and M.Ex (Master of Extension), from Washington State University (WSU, USA) and BSc. (Agric) and Diploma in Tropical Agriculture from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Ghana.

Career Summary: He is a Co-founder and Director/Chairman of PAB Development Consultants Ltd. He is an experienced socio-economist with over 30 years experience in adaptive research, enterprise development, management, training and program/policy planning.

He has travelled extensively to share knowledge and experience on enterprise development and food security. Places visited include business incubators and small and medium scale enterprises in several states in the USA, most European countries, almost all West African in countries, some East African countries, India and Canada. His career as Senior Agricultural Officer with the Ministry of Agriculture, Director of the Bureau of Integrated Rural Development (BIRD) of KNUST, Extension Economist for West Africa Rice Development Association (WARDA), and as the Executive Director of the GRATIS Foundation, has given him unmatched skills in dealing with donors, governments, cooperatives and farmer associations.

He was the first National Coordinator of the EU micro project scheme in Ghana, and has coordinated a number of other national and international consultancy projects sponsored by institutions such as IFAD, USAID, IDRC, UNIDO, GTZ, CIDA, World Bank etc. Conversant with EU, CIDA, USAID and other donor systems of procurement and management of project fund. He has served on more than 15 important Councils and Boards.


Elijah Yaw Danso, MSc

Education: Mr. Danso holds an MSc in Development Planning and Management from KNUST, Ghana. He also has a Post Graduate Diploma in Development Planning and Management from the University of Dortmund, Germany, a Post Graduate Diploma in Integrated Rural Regional Development Planning from Settlement Study Centre in Israel and a BSc in Agriculture from the University of Ghana.

Career Summary: He joined PAB Development Consultants in 1991 and became a director in 1995. He is currently the Managing Director for PAB. He is an experienced development planning expert. His areas of competence include environmental and social impact assessment, water and sanitation policy analysis, natural resource and environmental governance, monitoring and evaluation impact studies etc.

He also worked as a Senior Programme Officer for Environment and Water for the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Ghana, Social Development Advisor for the DFID sponsored Forest Sector Development Programme, Programme Coordinator for EU sponsored Human Resource Development Programme, Socio-economist for the Wildlife Division of the Forestry Commission of Ghana.

He has done extensive consultancies for different development partners such as EU, DFID, AfDB, CIDA, World Bank in the areas of impact studies, mid-term and final project evaluating, socio-economic studies, baseline surveys. He has in-depth knowledge in preparation of tender documents and management of contracts, design and promotion of technical proposals, training of trainers and management planning.


Joseph Jackson Adu-Gyamfi, PhD

Education: Dr. Adu-Gyamfi holds a PhD in Plant Nutrition and Physiology and an MSc in Plant Nutrition all from Hiroshima University in Japan. He also has a BSc in Agriculture from the University of Ghana where he majored in Crop Production.

Career Summary: Dr. Adu-Gyamfi became a Director of PAB Development Consultants since 2002 after serving as a senior consultant for over 10 years. He is an experienced Agronomist / Natural Resources Management Expert with national and international experience in the humid and the semi-arid environments. His areas of competence include farming systems agronomy for improved rural livelihoods and food security programming, monitoring and evaluation. His expertise has taken him to countries like India, China, Bangladesh, Thailand and most African countries.

Dr. Adu-Gyamfi’s work experience include; Production Systems Agronomist (South Asia) and Regional Coordinator (West and Central Africa) with International Crop Research Institute, Soil Fertility Specialist and Technical Advisor to Danida, Expert Consultant to FARA, Principal Scientist to ICRISAT, Consultant to Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences. Dr. Adu Gyamfi is currently a Soil Scientist / Plant Nutritionist with the International Atomic Energy Commission (IAEC) in Vienna.

He is a member of several professional societies including; New York Academy of Sciences, American Society of Plant Physiologists, Japanese Society of Soil Science and Plant Nutrition, International Congress of Soil Science, Soil Science Society of Ghana and International Congress of Biological Nitrogen Fixation.


ASSOCIATE DIRECTORS

Professor Ramatu Mahama Al-Hassan, PhD

Education: Professor Ramatu Mahama Al-Hassan holds a PhD in Agricultural Economics from IOWA State University. She also has an MA in Agricultural Economics from the Washington State University and a BSc in Agriculture from KNUST, Ghana

Career Summary: She has been an Associate Director with PAB Development Consultants since 1995 She is a professor of Agricultural Economics at the college of Agriculture and Consumer Sciences, University of Ghana and currently the Team Leader for the Research on Improving Smallholder Access to High Value Agricultural Markets and in addition engaged in the development of the Agricultural Sector Plan for the Ministry of Food and Agriculture.

She is a member of several professional societies including; University of Education Council, the Hunger Project Advisory Council, International Agricultural Economics Association, African Agricultural Economics Association and Ghana Association of Agricultural Economists. Prof. Ramatu Mahama Al-Hassan has several publications to her credit.


Kwame Ampaben-Kyereme, MSc

Education: Mr. Ampaben-Kyereme holds a Masters degree in Health Services Planning and Management from KNUST, Ghana and a Certificate in Urban Development Management, Human Settlements Management Institute, New Delhi, and a BSc. (Planning) from KNUST

Career Summary: He has been an Associate Director of PAB Development Consultants since 2000. He has over 25 years of local and international field and research experience in physical planning of settlements i.e. urban design; the preparation, monitoring and evaluation of physical and socio-economic development plans and advocacy programmes.

He has worked with the Department of Town and Country planning in various capacities and currently the Municipal Director, for New Juaben Municipal Assembly, Koforidua.


Josephine Okutu, MSc

Education: Mrs. Okutu holds an MSc in Business Administration from the University of Ghana, Legon and a BSc in Biology from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology.

Career Summary: She has been an Associate Director of PAB Development Consultants since 2008. Her areas of competence include import/export trade related projects and training, general management, marketing/market research planning, business diagnosis and planning, investment advisory services and entrepreneurship training.

She was the Marketing Specialist at ACDI/VOCA, an American NGO, implementing an Agricultural Development and Value Chain Enhancement Program (ADVANCE) funded by USAID. She also worked as the Commercial Director at the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research, and executive director for BIjos consult. Josephine was also the President of Chartered Institute of Marketing Ghana (CIMG).


Kwabena B. Prakah-Asante MSc, MBA

Education: Kwabena holds an MBA from the University of California, Irvine, an MSc in Geographic Information Sciences (GIS) from the University of Texas at Dallas, and a BSc in Planning from KNUST Ghana.

Career Summary: He has been an Associate Director of PAB since 2010. Kwabena has an extensive background in spatial analysis using Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and project management. He  serves as the primary architect for promoting the investment and management of enterprise GIS technologies at the Police Department at the City of Riverside, California.

Kwabena's e
xperience includes developing and managing GIS databases, developing of customized e- reports, coordinating teams towards successful implementation of projects and application of spatial analysis tools towards understanding crime patterns. He also works as a teaching consultant for the National Institute of Justice (NIJ) US Department of Justices developing and teaching the application of GIS technology in law enforcement.


ASSOCIATE CONSULTANTS

Alfred Kwasi Opoku, MPhil

Education: Mr.Opoku holds both an M.Phil and an M.A in Population Studies all from the University of Ghana, Legon and BSc in Development Planning from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology.

Career Summary: He has been an Associate Consultant with PAB Development Consultants since 2000. His specialty is in Institutional Capacity Building and Project Management. He has worked as a Project Monitor / Technical Advisor to EU Micro projects with BIRD (KNUST, Kumasi); National Training Coordinator for Christian Youth in Tertiary Institutions; Research Fellow, Land Administration Research Center (KNUST, Kumasi) and now a Director of JEAVCO Associates Ltd.

He has been a key Consultant for Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development on Urban II, III, V projects and VIP/CBRDP in Institutional Capacity Building on the Decentralisation concept and Participatory Project Design.


Akosua Kyereme-Tuah, MBA, MEng

Education: She has an MBA from MIT Sloan School of Management, an MEng in Computer Engineering from Cornell University, and a Bachelors in Computer Science from Knox College.

Career Summary: She has been an Associate Consultant to PAB since 2010. She has experience working in Management Consulting and Business Strategy with Booz Company / Booz Allen Hamilton, and with Mercer.

She has also worked in software development for Alcatel. She has experience in operations and strategy analysis crucial to the successful implementation of projects. (She is based in USA)


Bernard Osei Appiah, MPhil

Education:
Mr. Osei Appiah obtained both an MPhil and a BA in Economics all from the University of Cape Coast.

Career Summary: He has been an Associate Consultant with PAB Development Consultants studies, preparing proposals and execution of projects; project appraisal and evaluation of projects including dams for agricultural purposes.

His consultancy assignments include Mid-Term assessment of the GRATIS Foundation Programme, Mid-Term Evaluation of Rural Water Supply, Socio Economy baseline study of farm households affected by expansion of mining operations, social profiling of communities in area of influence of the mining operation for Newmont Ghana Gold Ltd. He is currently the Programmes Officer for Microfinance and Small Loans Centre (MASLOC). He was a consultant with PERD Consult; and a branch manager for Agricultural Development Bank.


Ama B. Bartimeus, MSc

Education: Mrs. Bartimeus holds an M.Sc. in Business Economics and Management and a certificate in Business Administration all from the University of Quebec, Canada. She also has a BA in Social Sciences from KNUST, Ghana.

Career Summary: She has been an Associate Consultant with PAB Development Consultants since 2006.She over ten years extensive experience in development projects generally, with considerable knowledge in design, monitoring and evaluation of development programs in a wide range of sectors including Agriculture and Natural Resources, SME development, Micro Finance, Health, HIV/AIDS, Education and Child Rights

Mr. Asibey-Bonsu worked as a Rubber Field Assistant for Nkum Associates, a Training Services Provider for IMAS Ltd and Officer in charge of Research Extension Farmer Linkages at the Ministry of Food and Agriculture (MOFA), Accra - Ghana. He is a Member of Ghana Institute of Horticulturists (GhIH).

Career Summary: He is an experienced manager/administrator with various projects to his credit and has handled a number of Institutional Capacity Building and Training Programmes. Some of these projects include training of key District Assembly Staff in Participatory Planning Skills.

He worked as the Administrative Officer for PAB Consult, implementing partner for ACDI VOCA on the USAID Agricultural Development and Value Chain Enhancement (ADVANCE) project, The training Services Coordinator for the Commercial Development of Farmer-Based Organisations and the Managing Director for Centre for Participatory Development.He also worked with the Agricultural Development Bank in various capacities.


Yaw Oppong Prakah-Asante, BSc

Position:
Programme Officer

Education: Mr. Prakah-Asante holds a BSc in Agriculture from the University of Cape Coast.

Career Summary: He has five years of training farmers, farmer based and micro finance organizations; and five years of farm management experience especially in pineapple production. Effective in event organization and with good computer knowledge especially with Microsoft office. Proficient in power point presentation. He is currently the Project Officer of Governance Initiative for Rights and Accountability in the Forest Management.

He worked as a Field Business Facilitator for PAB Consult as implementing partner for ACDI/VOCA on the USAID Agricultural Development and Value Chain Enhancement (ADVANCE) project. He was also involved in the training of farmers for the Ghana MCA Compact Program.

Career Summary: She has excellent administrative skills, proven ability to cope with challenges, customer focused and objective team player. Works well in a demanding environment and is able to maintain high standard of work.

She has for the past fifteen (15) years worked with various organizations including Self Search Ghana Ltd, Ittas Consultancy Ltd, Ghana Wildlife Society, European Union Human Resources Development Programme/MLGRD, etc.



Doris Boateng, BSc.

Education: Ms. Boateng has a BSc in Administration (Human Resource Management) from the Central University College, Accra, and a stenographer certificate from Accra Polytechnic. She also holds a professional certificate from the Institute of Human Resource Management Practitioners, (IHRMP), Accra.

Career Summary: She has excellent administrative skills with in-depth experience in the administration of office staff, management of office resources, preparation of monthly budgets, handling internal and external correspondence, organizing of meetings and workshops, arranging logistics for field trips etc.

She has provided administrative support for projects such as Quality Improvement in Primary School Program (QUIPS) Improved Learning through Partnership (ILP), Education Sector Support Programme (ESSP) School Upgrading Project (SU), Microprojects Programme, Commercial Development of Farmer-Based Organisations etc.She worked with Centre for Participatory Development as Office Manager and a Secretary at National Association of Local Authorities of Ghana (NALAG), Accra.
